cozy days...

Ice cream for lunch. After a pretty long hiatus from ice cream, we've indulged. This month is a whirlwind, sugar-fueled, free for all, so why hold back? We'll get back on track and all healthy style come january...

Bourbon Balls are sooo easy to make and will really impress all the non teetotaler adults on your gift list.  These would've been a great gift for my grandpa. You can use pretty much any type of alcohol-I think whiskeys and rums work best and you have to remember to make them at least a few days ahead. They are really good when they've had a few days to mellow but totally horrible right away. The kids helped roll them around in powdered sugar and weren't even tempted to ask for a taste because, "ugh, those smell gross!"...

The eggs are really rolling now that we've got the heat lamp. It's pretty awesome to me and wonderful that each of our little hens makes an egg a day. 2 brown and 1 blue each morning! I love to go out and collect them!

A sad picture of really awesome toffee . I feel super accomplished because I made it without a candy thermometer. Just so you know, in my opinion, it doesn't turn a "dark amber" when done, more of a "medium amber" actually, just toffee color. When it smells like toffee it's done. I tested it by dropping a bit into cold water and then dumping it out and it cracked so it was "hard crack" stage. It was all very scientific and cool!
Trying to help a pal up. Really yanking on his arm but she's tryin to learn how to be gentle...
Little curtain color combinations... I decided that, on top of the 80 million other things I'm making, I needed to make 2 new curtains for our living room. It took FOREVER. Way too long for two little windows. But at least I finished them and they're nice and all done! phew...
Ok, now I'd like to relax with a warm cup of tea and maybe watch the new vampire diaries episode, pleeease!
