loving autumn...

I've been absent from this space for awhile... Not intentionally, but I've been immersed in so many projects (dress making, garden tending, reading up on bees and bunnies, making my first quilt, trying to do a redux/clutter clearing in the house/basement that seems neverending-those things each need their own post. soon...) and so much cozy time. It's gotten very cold all of a sudden and it's been raining a lot. I NEED to get my garlic in the ground. today or tomorrow it will happen. Now to sip a little coffee and add a few more pieces to the quilt...
This chicken... No one has ever loved a rubber chicken more!

It's the season of lots of garlic and elderberry syrup every day. I'm taking a herbal home remedies class and learning how to make all sorts of wonderful concoctions! The elderberry syrup is, so far, one of my favorites. Who knew it was so easy, and much cheaper than buying it, to make. We take it in the morning and evening and it tastes sooo delicious that no one complains a bit. xo m

getting better...

Darned flu!! It's been hangin around and being quite a pest about our house.I'm thankful that at least the stomach portion is behind us, that, my friends was rough! We're all sniffly and my little gal has a bit of cough and is far more congested than brother and I. Papa remains immune. He always does it seems...
We amused ourselves by playing with Domino, well everyone just calls her "Nose" now. Nose always wants to be in the middle of the action but not picked up or bothered. Here she is, laying on this blue blanket I had to have (I LOVE the watery color scheme but I realized that I am almost positive it's a first class plane blanket from some euro airline...) from the thrift.
   Here she is, being bothered...
 Hopping over me...
 Seeking refuge...
 Hiding away...
 A little macaroon therapy.
um, and chocolate cream eclair therapy... oh man, it was good!
The most hilarious happening by far was when my tiny gal let her brother put his pants on her. He's 12. She was really into wearing them and acting like a big guy. so so funny!

ugh, so many fabric piles of fix its and projects building up in my sewing nook...
Sushi that comes to you on a treadmill isn't really that good, fyi. the rolls were ok but the pieces were bleck... still, it has kid appeal. They really wanted to check it out.

Ok, now I have to throw some wash in before I sneak off to ikea with my sis. I've been looking for the perfect grey sweatshirt for weeks and finally found one. Happy weekend! xo

make something!

sipping lighthouse coffee w/ so much silk creamer (I do think it's the best, the coffee and the huge amount of cremer.).  Climbing out of the pit of sick from the last few days. It's been bad... pounding head, cough, weakness, fever, chills, nausea, and a sick babe w/ the same plus spots... last night she lost her fever and seems to be doing right as rain. I am still a bit under the weather but no more headache. Woke up feeling inspired (as on most days) to make something new. The winter time knitting bug has loosened her hold on me a bit- I think I just knit so darn many items for gifts that I am a burnt out. Have gotten out the fabrics and dress form and pinning some thing to make a floofy sort of skirt. I guess I'm working on spring time things and going to amass a good stash of them and then take it from there... Also, there's tinkering that needs to be done in the garden. Can't wait till it warms up and we can put of hodge-podge, candy-colored, painted, wood, outside furniture, outside!
  happy weekending!
