visions of love...

The other day I was finishing up some work pictures, feeling more than a little taxed/stressed/kinda (ok totally) caffeinated, and I spotted a little wisp of something in pale chartreuse flutter by my feet. I put my finger down and it lumbered on. maybe a little tired from a busy day of flitting about? This moth/butterfly creature was stuck to me like glue and my tension instantly evaporated under the weightlessness of her velvety body. I tried to find a few good spots for her to rest on but she didn't want to remove herself from my finger.
I walked about the yard for a couple more minutes trying to find a suitable spot for my winged friend to relax and then when I showed her my growing garlic patch she sauntered right in and flapped her wings a few times in approval. I was so elated and filled with such a strong feeling of love for hours.
There is just so much beauty to behold when I chose to see it.
I am so looking forward to spring and garden times. Happiness! xo m

spring shift...

There have been more than a few late nights out (with lady friends and alone) as we transition into spring vibes. So many good bands to see and the weather warming up makes it more more wonderful to be trudging around outside at night...  Although I have been a bit naughty and consumed pizza once or twice!! A girl's gotta let her hair down once in a while...

Lovely and magical friends make it easy to dream away the grey clouds when they choose to roll in...
A lunch date alone, sitting at the counter watching a sweet lady make tortilla after tortilla. This lunch made me dream of home (California) and near home (Mexico) and getting back there real real soon...
Seeing Stickers play @ Cairo. They were rad. So weird to see bands play in what used to be a friends long ago living room...
Grimes at the Sunset. Pretty awesome but majorly crowded and kinda full of bros...
And did you know that you can dye these lamb pelts?? I always find the ikea ones when I'm out thrfiting and we have like 4 white ish ones and so ta da- bathtub dye lab and presto! pretty colored rugs. I recommend using the liquid rit dye and you really have to knead it in as the wool resists liquid really well....
So the sun is shining and I have a million pictures to take today! Off to work... xo m

on valentines day...

This was the first valentines day in... oh probably 20 years (!!) that I have been single! crazy... There were no flowers or chocolates for me. I did have breakfast/major catchup session with a dear friend and got a mountain of work done (cutting patterns, grading, ordering fabric and figuring out my new line of dresses-it will be a very simple collection of 3 but still...). Spent a bit of time reading my favorite. And I got the best gluten free vegan cupcakes for The kids and I.

And then, of course, I spent the night with the only man who truly understands me. Edward Cullen.

daughter of the moon...

Taking a bit of a pause for a few days and here is the decreasing cycle of the moon, just in time, giving me extra cause to breathe and nourish things that are already growing. changing. tearing down the old to make way for the new...
   I'm thankful there is this:

and let's be honest, this too...

back to deep relaxing... xo m

dream of spring

Today was such a wonderful bright, and warm day. It really felt like spring and we were able to get outside, fix the fence (it's been falling apart for so long) and take a peek around the garden. The rhubarb is already starting to poke out! I'm hoping the warm days continue because the yard needs a lot of picking up and things need to be done now to get ready for early planting.
I can't wait to have access to fresh food that's waiting just outside the back door. I still have a tiny bit of greens growing but they've been mainly a treat for the chickens.
We've been eating sooo good! I've been true to my regime (with only a few minor slip ups- a glass of wine on occasion, and a coffee or two in the last few months) and it feels good to be vegan and staying off gluten and refined sugar (ok, there has been a secret dark chocolate bar living in the kitchen cupboard for the last week).
My little assistant. She LOVES beads and jewelry and all my tools. I still can't find my wire snips or rosary pliers. She hid them.
Sewing, making, organizing and curating my vintage inventory.  Working on my herbal products tomorrow. It has taken me forever to get my packaging, labels, stamps, tape, etc etc... I finally have nearly everything in place and look forward to adding some special treats to the shop... February is gonna be good! xo m
